Shoulder pain is one of the most common and disruptive problems for Boulder’s active adults. Whether it shows up while lifting, reaching overhead, climbing, swimming, cycling, skiing transitions, or even sleeping, shoulder pain limits the very movements that define an athletic lifestyle.
At Dynamic Athlete, we treat shoulder pain with a medical‑grade, movement‑driven, and biologically precise approach grounded in sports medicine—not generic PT protocols, ineffective cortisone injections, or rushed orthopedic visits.
Not all shoulder injuries are the same — and not all regenerative treatments are the same.
Dynamic Athlete is a premium, outcomes-focused clinic.
We are not a place to price shop.
We are a place to get your shoulder fixed correctly the first time.
Boulder’s athletic culture places unique and continuous demands on the shoulder.
This is not a sedentary community.
This is a community of runners, cyclists, climbers, lifters, hikers, skiers, and multi-sport athletes who train hard and often.
Each sport introduces specific shoulder stress patterns:
The shoulder is the most mobile — & therefore least stable — joint in the body. Lifting exposes it to:
Over time, these create:
Climbing produces some of the highest rotator cuff demands of any sport.
Risk factors:
This leads to:
Swimming patterns create repetitive overhead cycles, especially in freestyle.
Mechanical stressors:
Common outcomes:
This leads to:
Pole plants and falls create:
Even non-athletic shoulder patterns matter:
The majority of shoulder pain is NOT caused by a single traumatic event.
It is caused by:
This is why a 5-minute orthopedic exam misses most shoulder problems.
At Dynamic Athlete, we use:
To determine the exact tissue and the exact mechanical cause.
We don’t treat “shoulder pain.”
We treat the precise issue causing it.
The shoulder is the most complex joint in the human body. It is capable of immense mobility, but that mobility comes at the cost of stability—and this is where most clinics fall short. A short exam, a few orthopedic tests, and a quick “impingement” diagnosis misses the true underlying causes in climbers, lifters, swimmers, cyclists, and mountain athletes.
At Dynamic Athlete, we use a multi‑layered, sport‑specific diagnostic system that is engineered for Boulder’s active population.
Ultrasound shows LIVE movement—something MRI cannot provide.
We can see:
This alone sets us apart from 99% of clinics.
Shoulder pain rarely appears during rest.
So we examine the movements that trigger your symptoms.
We evaluate:
We replicate the exact movement that causes your pain, then evaluate:
WEIGHTLIFTERS
We assess:
CLIMBERS
SWIMMERS
We analyze:
CYCLISTS
We evaluate:
By the end of your evaluation, we know:
This is how shoulder injuries actually get fixed.
The shoulder is not one structure—it is an integrated system of tendons, joints, muscles, and stabilizing tissues. Treating shoulder pain with a “one‑size‑fits‑all” program is the reason so many athletes fail traditional therapy.

Not all shoulder pain is the same.
Not all regenerative medicine is the same.
And not all clinics have the skill to correctly identify the problem.
We diagnose the exact tissue involved and treat it precisely.
One of the biggest misconceptions in orthopedic and regenerative medicine is the idea that treatments like PRP, “stem cells,” shockwave, or physical therapy are standardized. They are not. Shoulder outcomes differ dramatically depending on the clinic’s diagnostic accuracy, biologic quality, injection technique, ultrasound skill, and understanding of shoulder biomechanics.
Dynamic Athlete is a premium, outcomes‑focused clinic. We do not offer generic PRP injections, uncalibrated shockwave treatments, or “impingement protocols.” We use medical‑grade biologics, precision ultrasound guidance, and sport‑specific rehabilitation strategies to achieve results that stand apart in Boulder and throughout Colorado.
Most PRP offered in Colorado is:
Dynamic Athlete uses:
We do NOT use BMAC.
We use BMA because it:
The quality of BMA depends on:
MFAT is NOT for:
MFAT is for:
Most “shockwave” clinics offer only radial pressure waves (RPW)—not true shockwave.
Dynamic Athlete uses:
For shoulder injuries:
Using them in the correct order matters:
EMTT → ESWT → ± RPW
Two clinics can use the same biologic or device and produce completely different results.
Outcomes depend on:
We treat shoulder pain with the same precision and intention used to treat elite athletes.
Not all regenerative medicine is the same.
Dynamic Athlete provides the highest standard available in Boulder.

This is one of the most powerful tools for shoulder healing.

Biologics succeed when mechanics improve.

Your plan may include:
We build long‑term solutions—not temporary relief.
Healing timelines for the shoulder are different than for the knee. The shoulder is a complex interplay of tendon, capsule, joint mechanics, scapular rhythm, and neuromuscular coordination. Because of this, healing requires a structured, biologically aligned plan—one that active adults in Boulder depend on to stay in their sport.
We break the healing timeline into four predictable phases:
“It doesn’t feel as angry. I’m not guarding as much.”
Shoulder tissue begins to structurally change.
This is where high-level performance returns.
“I can finally trust my shoulder again.”
Shoulder remodeling can continue for up to a year.
This is why our biologic + movement strategy outperforms cortisone, basic PRP, or non‑specific PT alone.
When these components are aligned, shoulder pain resolves reliably—even in cases where other clinics have failed.
You are the exact patient we see most often.
Most failed treatments come from:
Our system is designed for patients who need a better, more precise approach.
It depends on:
General guidelines:
Yes. PRP, BMA, and MFAT (when indicated) are safe and effective.
We do not use unregulated or exaggerated “stem cell” claims.
You do not need to be a climber, swimmer, or lifter to benefit from our model.
If you value an active lifestyle, we can help you.
We are a premium clinic focused on optimal outcomes, precision diagnostics, and advanced biologics.
We do not compete on price.
We compete on results.

Rachel graduated high school this year and will be attending the University of Wyoming in the fall to pursue a pre-medical track. She hopes to go on to medical school afterwards to specialize in orthopedics and sports medicine.
Rachel found her passion for this field through many sports injuries growing up, and hopes to help other athletes overcome the challenges she has faced. In her free time (when she’s not injured), Rachel enjoys running, lifting weights and spending time with her family.
Olivia is an intern for Dynamic Athlete and has been with us since August 2023. She is professional ice skating coach and ice program director, working with hockey skaters and figure skaters of all ages and backgrounds. She is passionate about psychology and incorporating mental health into coaching, training, and injury recovery.
Olivia received her Bachelors of Science in Cognitive Neuroscience Psychology from the University of Denver and was a student athlete on their figure skating team. She is seeking to pursue a masters degree in Sports and Performance Psychology so she can continue to serve the athletes in her community.
